Coin collecting software!

Have any of you computer gurus out there made any coin collecting software in Excel or WORD that you would like to share? I'd be willing to buy it from you if it's not too much. But keep in mine I'm a single mom and a really really nice person! Thanks!

WELL.............. :) I have a tracking program I made for a friend that owns bullion. It is in Excel. It is easily modified to add anything you want. Not sure you want to share your email in open forum, so send me a private email and then I will send it ya free...

Re: Coin collecting software!

I just use Excel...

I have a tab for each type of Coin I collect

Morgans, Various Liberties, Eagles, Quarters, State Quarters, Nickels, Dimes, Cents, US Proof, US Mint sets, Silver Bullion 1 OZ Bars Rounds, 10 OZ Bars, Gold 1 Gram and 1 oz...

Also, I have a few simple formulas and Rows of Cells formated to tally up all my OZs, then multiply by spot Price, so I know how much I have....

I've looked at some other ones, but I'd rather by 5-10 more OZs then a program....

Yeah Kathy, he's smart and so are you. I, on the other hand, can't figure out from one time to the next how to set up a spreadsheet in Excel, I have to get my college educated son to do it for me. So I track mine the old fashioned way, in a notebook. I just keep a running total and multiply it by the spot price to figure it up. Know of a Gal on a gun forum that tracks all hers and her husbands guns in Excel, I do that in a notebook too.

No smarter than anyone else here I'm sure of that... I've just been around excel and used it for tracking stuff for a long time....

I have a huge one at work that I track Hundreds of thousands of IP addresses for an ISP... I have keep track of what is where so we don't assign duplicates, other wise we'll have issues...

I know theres a Black Helo out there somewhere, so to keep my info somewhat safe, I have my PCs behind 3 Firewalls (2 HW 1 SW) with Non-Routed - Private IPs, I run 3 different Viri Scanners (updated weekly) and have all my Data on two redundant External HDs, that can easily be pulled and moved or destroyed if I think I need too...

So, I know nothing is 100% safe, but I feel somewhat Secure...

Plus anyone that has the knowledge and power to get into my stuff is looking for something a lot more serious than a mere 3 or 4 American Eagles and a Bar of Silver or two...

Thanks bl96S5eu!

Looks like a good site to do a little homework and learn a few things. But so far what I'm finding out is right when you think you understand something another opinion comes along gives you reasons to doubt the previous one.

I'm trying to keep an open mind, because when your new at something it's hard to figure out who actually knows what there talking about. So I guess I've put myself in a safe mode for now and stick to just buying small quantities of silver until I learn more about the other things. Silver seems like a pretty safe bet, but if I'm wrong at least I won't be out my life savings and go jump off a bridge. lol

Re: Coin collecting software!

All I've used is a simple Excel spreadsheet with a tab for each different PM. I have to input the changed "buy" price from APMEX.com myself each time. The spreadsheet then calculates my profit/loss amount on each PM and overall. I would love an online web database program that would "grab" prices from Kitco, BullionDesk, or APMEX so I could update my prices in real time, but alas, it is not to be.

I only say APMEX because it has buy/sell prices for a variety of coins of different precious metals, not because I have bought from them.

Yeah that's what I use now (Excel). But I have to learn how to use the formula thingy to save a few steps. I ordered one of those Cd's you see on TV to teach you how to use Excel & Word but it didn't work in my CD drive for some stupid reason and I had to send it back. Thanks!

You may need a newer CD drive. The older CD drives cannot read CDRWs and the disk you ordered MAY have been burned using one of these standards and not the original CD standard (whatever that is).

Thanks! Yeah it could be that, but I do have a CDRW but it's an older one so maybe I'll have to break down and buy a new one. Money that could have gone for silver...lol
